Where I live, Halal is served in many places and I recently discovered that there are Six….SIX halal food carts lined up together on one side of the street at my school.
For $5, you can get a tray of food and a drink. It’s a great price.
But what is halal?
Only recently, I found out that halal is actually the way an animal killed and “served” you can say. It’s a very humane way to kill an animal. I just want to make a list of the process.
- Animal is killed alone without other animals looking at them and it can’t see another animal.
- One cut to the neck
- blood is completely drained out then packed or served
This practice or process is so humane. After watching things like Food Inc. and documentaries of chicken coops, cow utters inflamed and animal cruelty on American farms, Halal seems like the perfect way to go for the humane way of eating. So why are people so afraid of Halal?
Maybe because it’s a practice involving Muslims.
Before anyone pulls out the racist card or anything like I care, it’s true. People are scared of such a humane practice because they hate a kind of person. It shouldn’t have to be this way.
